Just wan't to showcase a small project I worked on with my roommates (Martin, K, Jonas) and some friends last week. It turned out quite nice.

It's going to be showcased around Jutland during the summer, but will probably return to Copenhagen around the end of the summer.

Farmors baghave is a playground that mimics the experience of playing in the dirt, puddles and shrubberies of grandma's garden where your only limit is your imagination. Create, jump, swim and play as you watch day turn to night. Farmors Baghave is an interactive toy which explores the bounderies between physical play and digital games.

HA! It looks really cool and playful :)

One technical question: How do the game recoqnize the buildning blocks. Is it done with a webcam from above or below, or are you using some dark sorcery magic, to make it happen?

Hello,

No secrets. We are using a rather nice camera to track from inside the box as well as we have all light sources inside the box; the camera is mounted to the alu box frame and should be super steady. This should in theory make it quite stable to whatever the players are doing outside the box (fx. having the installation standing in changing disco lights while people are dancing on the table shouldn't affect the tracking, but we never got to test this particular case).

I'll write up some post about how we made the whole thing at some point.
