Chief Visual Officer wanted for game startup

Unread post by Tue Saarie » 09 Jul 2017, 15:25

Rubicon Games is looking for an accomplished graphics designer who has the skill and ambitions to join our startup.
We won’t be calling each other by our C-titles for sure, but we do need to fill a role like that. Our team has a programmer, a behaviour designer, and a marketing expert. That leaves a pretty big hole for a person to take charge of the graphics.

What we do and why
Rubicon Games wants to help the world play with math. We build and publish math games for grownups. In doing so we give purpose to math students and a way to maintain math skills for math professionals. We are looking at producing very different kinds of games that all have math at their core.
Our first game is Get9. It is available in the app stores for iOS and Android. It launches worldwide in August.

Rubicon Games is a startup.
We are looking for a person to take charge of the company’s art direction. You have to be able to do a lot of hard entry level work while also defining visual strategy. Preferably you have experience from games with different art styles. It is important that you want to be part of the founding team of a startup. That means a heap of uncertainty and constant change. It also means that we are working as hard as we can to get to the next level, where our own jobs change to something new and unfamiliar.
We try to be as family friendly as possible and keep unavoidable crunch at a sustainable level.
being a startup means little reward in the outset, but potentially huge rewards when we succeed.
We can only succeed if we make awesome games that look like awesome games. Thats why we need you on the team as soon as possible.

If you are interested send a link with your portfolio and cv to tue@rubicon-games.com.

Compensation
Right now we are all working full time for no pay. We are working very hard at launching Get9, closing our Angel round, identifying markets and telling our story. So yeah. Crazy times. If you join us in August your first task will be supporting our marketing efforts around launch of Get9, experimenting with the style of our next game and defining the grafical language of our company.
Our first level of compensation will be startup salary and equity. One of our goals is to get to a decent compensation level as soon as possible because this is a marathon not a sprint.

If this is interesting contact us. If you think it sounds perfect go ahead and send your portfolio.
