Unread post by NevinSound » 07 Jan 2011, 20:36

Dear members of IGDA DK,

We are proud to announce the 2nd Woman in Games SIG on Thursday 13th of January in Spilhuset on Pilestræde.

The topic of the event will be about a girl game workshop that was held at Den Islamisk Arabiske Privatskole on Nørrebro.

- 10 girls from 8th grade - 5 instructors - 1 observer - 1 weekend in October 2010
- What happened?
- Did the girls and organizers survive the weekend?

“Can girls make computer games?!”

A group of female game developers - Linda Randazzo, Alexandra Mariner, Andrea Hasselager, Annika Olofsdotter and Nevin Eronde - arranged a girl game workshop for girls with a different ethnic background. 10 girls from 8th grade at Den Islamisk Arabiske Privatskole participated in the workshop. They brainstormed on the theme of ‘HOME’, built a pen and paper prototype and threw themselves into the game production!

The result are 2 computer games with interesting stories. So if you are eager to hear more about the result and some of the thoughts behind the participatory game design workshop - come down to Spilhuset on the 13th of January!

After the meeting we will go to socializing, mingling and hanging out with a nice, cold beer at Byens Kro, Møntergade 8, 1116 København K - located just around the corner!

What: Girl Game Workshop - Game development through participatory game design
When: 13 January 2011 from 18:00 - 20:30
Where: Pilestræde 43, 3rd floor, 1112 Copenhagen K

If you have any questions please write to Nevin Eronde at ne@igda.dk

We are looking forward to see you all,
