At least I HOPE so.

Hi All
As Head of Safety at MovieStarPlanet I would like to comment on this article as an employee who works with safeguarding children on a daily basis.

The safety of children using the online community is of paramount concern to me and everyone else working here. I think it is important to say that the monitoring of our Chat Rooms is undertaken by a combination of industry benchmark automated filters and monitoring by trained human moderators.

All moderators employed by MSP receive training in relation to online grooming and other child safeguarding issues by experts in the field of online child protection.

We also work pro-actively on child safeguarding issues with Law Enforcement Agencies in every country where we are operational. In Denmark we have an excellent working relationship with the National Police Cyber Crime Unit. This cooperation with the police and other child protection agencies, are safety measures that are not always implemented by other sites developing online games for children.

In relation to the recent article reported in ‘Politiken’, and other diverse Danish media, it was in fact MovieStarPlanet that first reported this case to the National Police Cyber Crime Unit in January 2014. This specialized police unit then dealt with the case and sent their completed investigation to the Copenhagen police, who made the arrest in May 2014.

This case would never have come to the attention of the Danish police had MovieStarPlanet not referred the relevant information to the Cyber Crime Unit in January 2014. The username and the IP address of the alleged perpetrator were locked from the game at this time, in accordance with our child protection procedures.

We are very aware of the responsibility that comes with creating an online community for children and making this a safe place for them to play and express themselves. After all, games should be about having fun and enjoying yourself, which is luckily the focus most of the time. But we do take our child safeguarding measures very seriously and do everything in our power to keep MSP a safe environment.

Please feel free to contact me if you require further information about our child safeguarding measures.
